Jacob van Rozelaar
Photography
Let's stop pretending for a minute.
Almost every photographer tells you they want to capture your special day because it only happens once in a lifetime. And yeah, they're kind of right. But why does it have to come wrapped in so much sweetness and hallelujah?
Let's talk straight up.
But first things first.
Hi, I'm Jacob. I'm 43, a dad of three kids (they're the reason I'm bald), and I've played piano for a looong time. I could even play a song at your wedding :-)
After high school I went almost straight into photography. No photo school, I just went out into the world and figured it out myself. I've never done anything else than photograph people, with some food and interiors on the side. It took me about 10 years of practicing and failing miserably before I found the right camera and lens, and behold: good pictures. Since then I've shot over 100 weddings, and I still get excited every time.
Here's what I believe.
Every wedding is kind of the same, except for the venue, people, energy, weather, food, music (not always), clothing, flowers, bites, dj, band, magician, entertainment... do I need to go on? The one thing that really makes the difference is how it was all captured, because those pictures are one of the few physical things you can look back on to relive the day.
So choose wisely, they say. Choose someone with lots of experience (that's me). Choose someone you actually enjoy being around (also me, I hope). And choose a photographer who blends in so well you barely notice they're there, but who you'll miss the days after.
I love, love, love to invade your crew and party people so we can dance and celebrate together. That's how your photos end up giving you the feeling that you were there.
What you can count on.

So, coffee?
Let's meet before the big day. Not because it's a rule, but because a good photo starts with a good connection. I don't drink coffee, so wine works too. Message me and we'll pick a day.
